Science and mathematics education in Senegal

 

< Leaning Competency Improvement in Mathematics and Science through Computer Class>

 

Through the support from Korean Ministry of Security and Public Administration, EWB is to take on the cultivation of destitute Senegalese children to grow up as talents who are competent in science and technology by allowing access for quality mathematics and science education aimed at sustainable development. We will assist local teachers to raise their mathematics and science teaching skills and will install a computer classroom so that they will carry out quality mathematics and science education by themselves accepting Korea’s successful education experience with the high-level ICT. In addition, we have detailed plans such as teacher training, on-line scientific experiment, renovation of computer room and equipment installation.

To accomplish these objectives, we will cooperate with a local organization, GSTS BAAL(The Tierno Sileymaani BAAL School Group) which is a school located at a suburb and in charge of education of the area since 1973. This enthusiastic institution has the far-reaching objectives to provide not only individual students but also all of local residents with better education followed by improvement in quality of life. In response to EWB’s trial, GSTS BAAL agreed to cover expenses spent in renovation and facilities, provide an existing classroom, supply management manpower for computer classroom and give tuition assistance to excellent students.

The education business will improve the accessibility to mathematics and science, foster   future talents, solve teacher shortage problem in the fields and meet the current demand of International Education Development Cooperation that emphasize the importance of program unit investment.  And it is expected to be applicable to other countries cases.
