Cooperation Project
Teachers Capacity Building in Kenya
EWB conducted capacity building project for Kenyan teachers according to the feasibility study performed in 2010. We were scheduled to establish a Computer Lab of high-tech equipment and provide Kenyan teachers with ICT-based teaching and learning program and e-learning training in FAWE(Forum for African Women Educationalist ), a new partner of EWB. Particularly, there came an agreement on entering into partnership with Seoul National University, Graduate School of Global Education Cooperation. About 500 of teachers working for primary or secondary school were selected as beneficiaries.
Establishment of hardware system, teacher training, contents development for the training, workshop targeted at educational policy-makers and FAWE directors and opening ceremony of a multipurpose classroom were included in our project list. EWB installed Computer Lab as planned and proceeded with the training for teachers through sending out a group of professors specialized in e-learning. We signed the MOU for the joint operation of the teacher training with a focus on e-learning through which there has been forged a firm cooperative relationship. We implemented the teacher training from July to November and discussed about head teacher-oriented training for the purpose of realization of self-sustain training of regular teachers. And it will serve as the start of exit strategy aimed at building their capacity to conduct program by themselves after the withdrawal of a team dispatched from Seoul National University (SNU). It is highly possible that the range of beneficiaries would be enlarged to whole areas of Africa through the collaboration with FAWE. And we expect that the introduction of video lecturing system causes the enlargement of the scope of beneficiaries to Kenyan teachers in entire regions, further international educators across Africa. EWB who has built consortium with SNU is on plan to develop another project for the reinforcement of system and the continuity of training.
